Comics Are Art! 01

A very loose sketch for the next comic. I am trying to use SB Pro to the fullest potential, so I placed the panels in first. Next, using the pencil tool, I sketched out some rough guidelines for the character placement. Adding another layer, I wrote in the text: 'Comics Are Art!'.

Eventually, I will drop the opacity on the pencils and ink the piece similar to the first comic. Add a new layer just for coloring and shading. Finally, drop the real text in with some typeface.

I kind of like showing my work in stages, because there is no "scrap" paper or "thumbnails" like my other drawings. With digital, I can just show the finished piece all polished up, but I enjoy the process of creating something new and showing how I got there.

In the first panel, Punkinhead starts to answer the Grim Reaper's question of "Are Comics Art?". The Reaper is startled. Next panel, Itzhak continues the statement and the Reaper is aghast and surprised. Lastly, Mike blasts out at the Reaper with a resounding conclusion to the statement. He puts the GM in his place as he falls out of the panel, kicking up his Chuck Taylor Allstar sneakers. I am thinking of having the kids holding some art supplies like a oversized pencil, ink brush and eraser or ruler...
